Having 38 years sewing experience, I opened “La Petite Fleur Couture Bridal Salon” in 1994. Many beautiful brides enthusiastically recommend the La Petite Fleur experience.
I was born in Birmingham, MI in 1967, the seventh child of nine. My mother is a brilliant seamstress and my older sisters are also proficient in the skill. It was natural that I should pick up a needle. Together we watched old movies in which, Edith Head designed chiffon master pieces for Grace Kelly, Liz Taylor etc… stirring my imagination and dreams.
Our family moved to the Cote D’azure of France, when I was at the impressionable age of seven. Living amidst all the glamour and high fashion style, I was inspired and determined to become a couturier of formal gowns.
After moving to Stuart, FL in 1978, I began my designing in high school, with homecoming and prom gowns. After college, I sought professional training. “Gazelle’s of Boston” hired me as an apprentice, where I gained experience in pattern-making, couture dressmaking and fashion shows. Wishing to move back to the south, I arrived in the great fashion hub of Atlanta, GA. I worked for “Rene Rene” as a subcontractor, as well as beginning freelance sewing under my name of “La Petite Fleur”.
Since 1990, I’m glad to have returned to beautiful Martin County, where I reside in Jensen Beach, Fl. I continued to work in fashion as a seamstress for Alexandra’s boutique, and occasionally Top Drawer and Harold Grant. I was even privileged to collaborate with renowned artist Aida Fry and her sister Gladys on a couture project of their own. All of these experiences influenced me to fulfill my destiny of opening “La Petite Fleur Couture Bridal Salon”. |
